About Us
The CORNER BOOKSTORE of Angel Fire, New Mexico, proud member of the BOOKSENSE organization of Independent Book Store Owners, occupies a cozy three room nook (soon to be four) in the Northwest corner of the Post Office Building in Angel Fire, on Hwy 434.
the doors to a welcoming community. Bill and Serena don't work alone, however, they get a lot of help and advice from her husband (janitor and handyman) Gary, Bookstore Callie, the resident Calico and most recently Milo the Mutt---who, thankfully, is only a part-time employee.
Serena and Gary moved to Angel Fire, the first time, back in 1976 but were transfered to the Phoenix, Arizona area in 1978. Because of their love of Angel Fire and the friends that they'd made, they kept close ties and property in the area and then were able to move back part time, following Gary's retirement from the U.S.Forest Service, in 2002.
Serena, who is in the store about 7 months out of the year, is a former journalist, librarian and is currently an author.
Bill, an accomplished guitarist, stepped away from a long career as a meat cutter and manager for the WalMart/Sam's Corporations to persue a dream...a career in writing. He and Serena are currently working on a novel, VISION IN A DREAM, which they plan to published in 2007.
Calico Callie dropped in for a visit while the store was being set up and just never left. Much to her dismay, a true refugee-- Milo the Mutt--also dropped in for a visit and decided to stay, as well. Thankfully for Calllie Milo goes home at night, leaving her to her solitude and mouse hunting---a skill she excells in, we might add.
There is excitement in the air at THE CORNER BOOKSTORE right now---- at the present time plans are underway to expand and add approximately 600 sq. ft. to the store to help and meet the needs of the community and the demand for more meeting space.
SERENA, BILL, GARY,CALLIE AND MILO welcome you to Angel Fire and THE CORNER BOOKSTORE. We are open 6 days a week, year 'round, to serve the needs of Colfax County.
